Hiya all,
As most of you probably know, I had pritty severe SPD while pregnant, and just to let you all know whos suffering, its not as bad as you may think to give birth!!
I never had any pain relief while delivering due to complications, but TBH, the pain from the SPD wasnt even in my mind! I delivered a week ago, and can already feel a big difference in the area, and im able to walk again!!!
I went into the labour ward in a wheelchair, and i came out walking, only using the crutches for stairs!!

Brilliant.

Two people I know who had v bad SPD have recently had 'good' labours. One in a pool (first baby) and the other in an ambulance in a hotel car park (her labour lasted under an hour, third baby)

Yes, I would second this. I had my dd at home after having moderate SPD ( I was virtually housebound, but not in a wheelchair on on crutches ). I gave birth kneeling over the sofa using a TENS and G&A. It was very straight forward and the pain from the SPD wasn't an issue at all. I'm planning on doing exactly the same again this time ( the SPD is returning ). The SPD virtually disappeared almost immediately after the birth too.

Wonderful news ladies, I started a thread in preg asking for tips with this as I'm 28wks and think ive got it mildly (due at MW this wk). Scared of it getting worse and if it will affect my labour so its good to hear positive stuff. Any tips to limit discomfort or prevent it getting worse?

Thanks for updating us on this jofeb04 - so glad that you are feeling so much better. Your post will provide reassurance to al the prospective mums out there with SPD. Congratulations again

Living with SPD during pregnancy is horrible, and of course you worry about the birth. I too gave birth with SPD and it was not a problem at all. I gave birth lying on my left side, knees drawn up quite high and barely 12-18" apart. It was far more comfortable than giving birth the first time, when I was in the classic on-your-bum legs akimbo position.

Congratulations, jofeb04, and mind your posture while you recover!

Good for you Joe! and congratulations.

Ive had mares with mine and my first labour was not great with it (not helped by my DP dropping my leg off the bed after a triple boosted epidural which meant i felt NOTHING).

Second labour was much better though tbh and i actually managed to hld up my own legs and push this time in an almost sat upright position (couldnt get on all fours or my side because of the monitoring for high BP which was priority really). Helps that my midwife was fab too though!
