hi, have heard mention on here of a thread with tips on elcs, i guess how to prepare things to take in etc. could anyone link to it for me?

have an elcs booked after previous traumatic experience so want to be prepared. still feel very sad though that i will never be able to have a 'good' birth experience where its all over with simply and happily with just gas and air or something. but anway guess i just have to accept it for now.

thanks for any advice.

big pants
sports cap bottle of water
take a book or a magazine to pass the time, you might get bumped down the list if there are emergency sections.
soft trousers with high waist for coming home.

Flip flops. I found it impossible to bend to put shoes with backs on.

And just to allay any fears you may have, my ElCS was a very calm, mundane yet positive experience, although I do understand about wishing I could just breathe them out while sniffing lentils!

snacks!
I was starving having fasted since 6am. They usually limit what you are allowed to eat after surgery so that you aren't sick, so no cups of tea and toast when you get back on the ward!
The day following surgery I was still only offered light breakfast, lunch and tea (sandwiches, yogurt, fruit etc) and I needed more than that!
Also don't hesitate to call for help for every little thing in the first 24 hours. Do not reach out and try and pick up your baby from the cot. Take all the help you are offered and don't let them sling you out the hospital too soon!

Oh snacks yes. We had a self-service breakfast bar system at our hospital which meant in theory you could get up and eat whenever you wanted, but of course with a CS that meant major planning! I was eating Rocky Road cake at 3am... yum!

Breastfeeding pillow. So you don't have to hold the baby up, you just use the pillow to hold it in the right position.

I'm very interested in this too as I'm going in for ELCS on Tuesday - sorry to hijack thread! For average 3 day stay how much will I have to take for baby in terms of clothes/nappies etc? Do they provide towels on the ward (i.e. bath towels)? Also do you stay in your nightie when on ward or can you put comfy clothes on? Will jogging bottoms cut in? Also in terms of going home outfit, I have recently either been wearing under-bump maternity jeans or over-bump tights with dresses but I imagine both will be uncomfortable with scar? What can I wear to go home in? Again sorry yummy for thread hijack! When are you booked in for? x
