Is this a prolapse?

I gave birth 11 days ago and had a very tiny episiotomy. No problems since, and apparently midwifes say it is healing well.

However, I did the stupid thing of having a look down there and when I pinned back the opening to my vagina, I could see - what I think is - my cervix. Everything is all quite swollen, and it's certainly not close to the vaginal opening but I'm sure it's the cervix and I could see it.

Should I be able to see it and does this mean a prolapse? Is it too early to know?

I'll post this in general health too

Thanks

Hmm I think things look very different after birth. I looked too and it seemed like part of the inside wall of my vagina was poking out slighty. That has stayed the same ever since. I think prolapse gives you a strong dragging feeling down there. Do you have any other symptoms?

I had a moment - and I mean moment of heaviness down there but that's all. I thought it might be part of the vaginal wall. Would a cervix be 'floating' or attached to the wall? Sorry, I'm so crap at anatomy Blush I should never have looked so early

I'd say ask your GP. Sorry to be pessimistic, but I went in for a perineal restitch 12weeks postnatal. When I came round from the op, the consultant told me she also repaired a rectocele (back vaginal wall prolapse). I never knew I had one. No symptoms, never looked, never felt anything. Pop to your GP, get checked, but after 11 days things are bound to be odd downstairs. You're brave for looking! My baby is 29 weeks and I only looked about a fortnight ago!
