Embarrassing post natal problem

Hello
I am six week post natal and have a slightly embarrassing problem. I had an emergency c-section and I am taking quite a while to get back to normal. One of the problems I have been left with is an over-active bladder and slight incontinence. I saw a uro-gyn nurse who told me that they allow three to six months to give the bladder a chance to recover before they intervene. I am seeing a physio about it who is very helpful but there are days when I feel so frustrated by it. I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there who experienced the same and could give me a bit of encouragement. My physio says I am doing very well, but there days when I feel like I have got nowhere :(

My friend went through a very similar experience. Did they nick the bladder during the surgery? Have you had an ultrasound to rule this out? In any case it will sort itself out eventually but for her it was four months till she was totally continent again.

Be encouraged by the physio- it's great that you are doing well. After my last c section, i had the opposite problem. I suddenly lost the ability to wee- I know my bladder was full, but couldn't seem to 'find' the muscles to push a wee out!!! I ended up having a cathatar fitted for 20 days until my bladder got over the trauma, and seemed to remeber again what to do. When i was seeing the bladder nurse- there were lots of mums with your problem- it's suprisingly common and with excersise, there are very few people who need further intervention. Good luck- and try to keep positive.

Oh I definitely had this.... I think it's being left far too long in the pushing stage/ and or being ordered to push when I knew DS was wedged, so pointless pushing too that did it, did you get that far before your section? I'm all fine now apart from very very occasional sneezes, 16 months on and with no help or physio, and me largely forgetting to do pelvic floor exercises. I think six weeks is very early so don't worry too much.
