really want a water birth (or at least to labour in water)

due to low iron levels, my consultant has put in my notes i have to have a canula inserted on admission to hospital, as a precaution.

will i still be allowed into the water?

not due to see anyone until 41+ now so can't ask.

I think it depends on your local hospital's policy. I possibly need ABs and the MW said our local hospital has changed its policy so you can labour in water and have a canula, last time I gave birth you weren't allowed. Check with the hospital's head of MWs.

You should be I think.

I tried for a VBAC in water and agreed to have a cannula in my hand (although in the event noone ever got round to it) but you may need to be quite insistant as it may not be standard practice.

Of course, if you did need an drip they'd whip you out of there.

You might want to call your MW or even the supervisor of midwives about your birth plan and see if you can get some confirmation from the hospital.

I had canula's in both hands and it took seconds to put them in. The put one in as soon as I got into the delivery suite and then the second part way through to deliver antibiotics...

I was told right from the start that I couldn't have a water birth because I had to be on a drip
