DS1 was 10lb (and I am small size 10 person). he got stuck and I needed last minute epidurala dn forceps delivery. I have requested a home birth (or birthing centre at least) for DC2 but MW has strongly advised against it as "likely to be bigger, risk of shoulder Dys-whotsit etc". She than said maybe ok if it is a girl as may be smaller. I will try to find out sex this time, what do you think and wwyd? Thanks.

No All boys
DS1 8lb 12 5 days over
DS2 8lb 5 days early
DS3 8lb 3 3 over

They should state that they allow +-10% on all sizing scans

No. DS was 9 lbs. I was told at my last scan that DD would be around 10 lbs. She came out at 7lbs 9 oz.

first - boy - 8lb 7oz (9 days over) VB
second - girl - 6lb 2oz (6 days early) ELCS

My consultant said that although you are told to expect a slightly bigger baby the second time (so for me a bigger boy or a girl about the same) - a lot of it is down to how well your placenta is working.

This is how he explained my second being small for dates, my placenta just wasn't as good as the first time, when my son achieved more of a true, expected weight.

He also said when it comes to length of labour, women tend to repeat their patterns, he was quite comfortable going away on holiday the half term week before my C/S was booked as I went over the first time! Scared me, but he was right!
