Contracting for almost 24 hrs now, time to be more proactive?

My contractions started about 7 last night and by 10 i was having fairly strong 45 second contractions every 10 minutes. This was regular all through the night and all day today until about 3 hours ago. Now they are fairly irregular between 5 an 10 minutes, quite strong, up to 1 minute long.

I can see this going on forever, but i just feel like lying in bed and waiting it out quietly. Would I be better up and walking about, bouncing on a ball etc?

Going for a walk sounds like a plan.

Good luck x

I'd take 2 paracetamol, have a bath & something nice to drink/eat and retire to bed. You have no idea how many women present in labour upset & saying 'I haven't slept for days' when they could have been waiting for nature to take it's course nice and slowly. If it is happening it will carry on, if now, just accept it is slow labour and take it as it comes. Good luck.

If you feel like lying in bed I'd go with your instincts and get some rest. Either you'll fall asleep and get some rest or you'll toss and turn until you find somewhere comfortable to ride the contractions out.

i think..try to sleep first..either this is it, and you won't be able to sleep, or it isn't, so you'll want to have as much rest as you can in preparation for the real thing when it happens.

Good luck!!

After 20 hours of slow contractions, things sped up after I posted and baby was born at 1am in the MLU water pool at 1am yesterday morning.

It was a pretty calm birth using hypnobirthing techniques, except for the midwife who told me they might send me home to wait as I couldn't possibly be in established labour as I was so relaxed, but ate her words when they examined me and found I was 8cm!

Hooray for the lovely lovely team at harwich MLU, for the support of my gorgeous OH, and to the new man in my life.

Not hooray for having to walk like a cowboy and being terrified of needing a poo.

Congratulations!

Re: pooing- use your hypnobrthing breathing techniques to get through it, honestly!
