Different types of pelvis..

My midwife happened to mention to me that there are 4 different types of pelvis's that a woman can have and this can have a bearing on the baby's postioning during labour and how well the baby manages to pass through during the 2nd stage of labour. Now I find this fascinating and wonder why women aren't told more about it as knowing the type of pelvis you have might prepare you better for labour and the types of positions that would be better for you to birth your baby.

I'm really suprised that I have never heard about this until now and I've been searching onlie to find out more info on it. here is some info on it I would be interested to hear more about it if anyone knows anything?

I find this an interesting topic too. I'm fairly sure I have a duff one, and suspect it might be platypelloid... I ended up with a deep transverse arrest during DS's labour. Thank goodness for c sections. I'd love to try a vbac if I have another but there's a part of me that would love to find out what kind of pelvis I have first. Wonder if that's possible on the NHS?
I found this an interesting linky:

LOL @ 'duff one'! Yes it interests me because I had an OP baby the 1st time around and I'm wondering if this was due to the shape of my pelvis? I'd love to find out so that I can give this next baby and myself the best chance of a 'natural' birth. Interesting link, thanks Smile
