Over-active thyroid & possible diabetes - elective c-section?

I have a very over-active thyroid which seems to be deteriorating throughout pregnancy (am 26 weeks). Yesterday doc discovered sugar in wee too which also points to development of gestational diabetes.

With previous problems with dd birth, plus thyroid and diabetes complications I want an elective c-section. I feel my thyroid problems returning, but my thyroid consultant is reluctant to increase my tablets again. My doc supports my decision and said that if he was my 'friendly' consultant he would have no hesitation in booking me in for a c-section around 36-38 weeks, but that, unfortunately, it's not him I need to convince but my consultant.

I have appt with consultant on Monday 26th Sept. Does anybody think he'll refuse me my request for c-section considering my recently poor thyroid results and this new development of diabetes?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Hi only just seen this post so don't know if this will help.
If you have gestational diabetes which I did with ds2 they said as my hospital they I would need a c-section as the babies grow bigger and unlike a "normal" birth the head is not the biggest part of a gestational diabetes baby it is their shoulders so therefore they prefere to deliver them this way so that they don't get stuck and you end up needing an emergency c section.
Let us know how you got on
