Am 37+6, spot on 100% with that date, with DC4. Haven't posted much this time round, mainly lurked, but thought I'd ask any of you that have laboured before if this is it?
I've had 3 elcs's previously, so I've only ever had BH's contractions. Basically, yesterday I was twingy in both the cervix and the back, grumpy, burst into tears and then had a laughing fit in the evening, and went to the loo TWICE yesterday (which NEVER happens).
Today I woke up with back ache and twinges, so to see if it's just BH's have had a shower, pottered in the kitchen with my mum, sat down for a bit, tried to sleep for a bit but it's still there. Slowly getting stronger, but doesn't seem to have any pattern, and isn't really painful enough to mark a start or stopping point. Fanjo is sore and twingy around the cervix, but again, not excruciating.
Thing is, I know bloody well if I ring the delivery suite, they'll just say to come in, so I'll have to get DH to drop me off and pick me up with DS3 in tow, I'll spend 2 hours in there, to be told that no, I'm not in labour and just bugger off home and wait! I wouldn't mind, but I only have a week to wait for my elcs - I book in on Friday!!
DH says not to bother, as they'll only drag me in there and send me home again. (Had a lot of that with suspected pre-eclampsia that's come to bugger all!)
What d'ya think?

If it was me I'd hang on a bit. I had quite powerful BH's with DD2 about 2 weeks before I actually went into labour. I had my TENS machine on and my mum on standby Blush.

If you are concerned, by all means ring the delivery suite - afterall they can't force you to go in. But it does sound more like BH's to me.

How's the weather where you are though? Don't hang on too long!

Good luck

Thanks nw, will hang on then, as I've really no bloody idea about all this! feels like when you have d & v, those cramps you get before you're sick? But all around the tummy. Not too dire though, so I'm probably fussing over nothing!

Weather's not too bad - we're in a southern coastal seaside town, so we do have a thick layer, but both DS and DD's schools were open, much to their disappointment!

Hi there
Your experience sounds exactly like the BH I had a fortnight before labour. The big difference is that the onset of labour feels like bad period pain low down and the BH were like tightening right around and over the top of the bump without pain or urgency. Both have a very similar pattern to begin with - a few minutes apart and a bit random. When the real labour started I just knew this is it defo.
Hope it all goes well for you.
:)

My CMW and NCT leader both said that in that situation only call in (and go in) if I think my waters have gone, if I'm bleeding or if I can't cope with the pain.

Unless there might be extra cause for concern as you were heading for an ELCS, I'd stay at home and wait and see if it turns into anything established. As I understand it, the very early stage of labour can go on for days sometimes.

Thanks ladies, you were right and although it did get steadily worse through the day, it bizarrely stopped completely at about 4ish, so I'm really glad I didn't go in!
Japh they are concerned that I don't go into labour, but CMW said to ring 'if I suspected labour', so if it happens tomorrow I'll probably wait until it's regular or super painful.
Just had another snowfall, so I'm hoping I can last it out until at least Friday, when I have to book in anyway!
