Difference between 1st and 2nd ELCS?

I had my DD by ELCS in February and it was a fantastic experience. Quick, easy, immediate bond and bfing and speedy recovery. I am now pregnant again and was thinking i would have another ELCS. Is there anything i need to consider that would make a 2nd ELCS much doifferent from the 1st eg cutting into the first scar?

The only difference I noticed was much more tugging on the op table but I think I had some adhesions from the first ELCS - other than that it was just as good as the first.

oohh good question. I am expecting 2nd elcs on xmas eve, and am interested in this as well as my first was a doddle.

My first ELCS there was more tugging i think because everything was a bit tighter as DD was extended breech. I lost about quite a bit of blood during the op. The recovery was slower and i had a few odd twinges and aches in my lower tummy up to 18 months after. I was only 19 though and terrifed!

2nd ELCS was a breeze. Not so much tugging, hardly any blood lost and the recovery was very quick.

Good luck! :)

I've had 3 sections (1st emergency and next two elective). I really didn't notice any particular difference between 1st and second sections, but by the third the stitching up time was much longer than the other two as the wall of my uterus had become very thin and so it was a more complex process to get it all successfully stitched up.

All of mine were delivered approx 8 mins after the first incision, but a friend of mine found that with her second section the delivery time was much longer (40 mins from first incision) as they apparently had a bit of trouble cutting out the old scar tissue, she was a bit freaked out by this but they reassured her that there was no problem.

My recovery was much quicker after 2nd and 3rd sections that after the first (probably because I hadn't experienced 30hrs of labour first). No particular difference in recovery time between 2nd and 3rd sections for me.

I have had 2 CS.

The second one took longer, and they exteriorised my uterus in the second one, which unerved me a bit, as that hadnt happened in the first CS.
Despite that I found the recovery from the second one easier.

All in all I found the second CS a less pleasent experience - my opinion is that I had a better surgeon the second time, but despite that, overall it was worse at the time, but better in the weeks that followed.
