pineapple all the way - suggestions to speed up eviction?

TMI alert. Lost mucus plug last Monday, babies head fully engaged, contractions (not BH) started Wednesday, got to every 15 minutes by Friday, went into hospital to get baby checked, and after 4 hours which confirmed that yes they were real contractions, yes baby was fine and yes, by the end of 4 hours my contractions had stopped... and haven't started again except as irregular twinges.

Really ready to have the baby now, have had two curries and now eaten so much pineapple I feel unwell but nothing doing. Any suggestions?

With my dd first stage labour took 4 days of constant contracting, just not dilating very fast. When I am contracting I throw up (I don't have a strong stomach at the best of times) and I can't sleep through them, or keep paracetamol down so a long first stage just means that I am really wiped out by the time I get to active labour, so if I can speed the first stage up I would be really grateful.

Not much help I'm afraid but I was exactly the same as you. And I tried curry, sex, pineapple, bouncing gently on birthing balls and lots of walking around the roads near my home. Nothing worked! Hope one of them does for you because as you know by the time you get to the hardest bit you're bloody knackered!!

Be careful with the curry. My friend had a curry the night before she went into labour and had acute, curry flavour diarrhoea throughout.

Try putting your hands up against a wall, leaning forwards and swaying your hips from side to side or round in circles. Friend of mine swears it restarted a stalled labour for her.

I was told by my midwife to walk like a crab. I.e. walk sideways and take fairly wide steps (without pulling anything), particularly good to do up and down stairs (be careful going down). Aparently the opening and closing of your legs (widely) stimulates (gently pulls) the cervix so can put things in motion. Also try to stay upright as much as possible to have weight of baby on cervix. Anything that stimulates cervix would be good. In fact criss-cross your way to your midwife like a crab and demand a smear - that might just do the trick! If, however, nothing seems to happen with these added things then try as best as you can to rest to store up your energy. Good luck!

Be very careful trying curry and pineapple, the idea is to induce diarrhea which is not helpful when you're actually in labour.

Chamomile is a uterine stimulant so can help, although I'm not sure how you use it (I just know you don't use it in early pregnancy).

Lots of sex! Exercise.

As fun as it is trying, baby will come when they're ready so don't expect a miracle cure.
