Different after Episiotomy?

I gave birth to my 2nd child a few months ago, I had an episiotomy but my previous scar ripped as well, loads of stitches blah blah blah.

Anyway on inspection recently things look v different down below, scar is pretty large but the oddest thing is my labia which previously one side was longer is now nice and neat.

Would they have trimmed a bit off for some reason?

Have namechanged (I hope) for this post but just wondered if similar had happened to anyone else.
Not complaining really but would have been nice to have been informed.

My midwife said to me that sometimes they 'take the opportunity to tidy things up' Shock

Agree it would have been nice to be asked but maybe (sorry) if things were such a mess they did what they thought was best at the time :)

I doubt very much that they trimmed your labia to make you look nicer. It was probably just the way that the scar tissue pulled more of you inside as it healed. Or something

I looked totally different after childbirth both times. But not in a good way, unfortunately!

i totally agree - i swear my bits used to be longer and r now nice and neat - i actually said this to my husband this morning and he said perhaps i haddent healed properly yet - its been 8 weeks tho and it feels heeled! im so glad u posted this i thought i was going mad!!

I was out of it on the gas and air when they were stitching up and do remember saying "make it pretty" but didn't think they actually would. Shock

There were a few stitches in labia apparently, was a bit of a disaster zone so hadn't checked it out at time.

Feliena, glad it's not just me, DP agrees it's def different.

Imagine that as a court case, suing for loss of labia.

lol!! mines definutly different too - i dont remember much either - i remember saying to hubby after 'i didnt think they could cut u without concent they must have thought it was an emergancy' n he was like no u told them to 'do whatever they thought and get on with it' so perhaps the bloke that sewed me up thought i culd do with a tidy up lol!!
