how was your second labour?

Had a bit of a rubbish time with DD and had to have a ventouse delivery in the end.

Now pregnant again and was wondering what to expect - was your labour very different the second time around if you had a back to back child the first time?

Had the same first time round. Spent last four weeks of second pregnancy on all fours at every available opportunity to make sure it didn't happen again. Second labour was less than three hours, bit of gas and air, no stitches. Never at any point did I get to anywhere near the level of mortal agony that I got to first time round.....

I was back to back with DD, my first, and I just figured that as it was all I had known, that was just the way it was... I'm hoping when the time eventually comes with DC2, it will be a walk in the park comparatively! Grin

DS1 was back to back, they tried ventouse but that just got him completely wedged and I had to have a c-section under General Anaesthetic as things went rather pear shaped.

DS2 was far easier, he wasn't back to back. Still had to have ventouse but it was a lot easier than DS1.

DD was a transverse lie so I had to have a c-section.

DD - not B2B, normal delivery, took 24 hrs, but was induced 34+5 due to pre-eclampsia.

DS1 - B2B, normal delivery, but took 72 EEEEVIL hours, was horrible fucking horrible.

DS2 - not B2B, 5 hrs start to finish!

DC4 - Due in Jan, been told today (31+4) that he is....B2B. Can I go cry now?!

I found my non B2B's to be far and away less painful, and much easier, than the B2B. Am not looking forward to this one now! Am really hoping he turns.

Everyone get over to the Spinning Babies website! You can do a lot to persuade a B2B baby to turn. My first was B2B and I had a EmCS with her after 42hrs. Second was normal position and shot out. I did a lot to make sure he was right way round though, including the Spinning Babies reccommendations, and also seeing and osteopath and a reflexologist.

DS1 - b2b (undiagnosed) - 50 hours resulting in EMCS and haemorragingSad
DS2 - right way round (lots of time on all fours) - 7 hour VBAC - 2nd degree tears
DS3 - right way round (again much time on birthing ball) - 4 hour VBAC and no tears

2nd and 3rd were easy peasy and quick, though 3rd was transverse towards the end of the pg but fortunately turned round in time.
