spd/pgp and labour

I'm crossing my fingers for a vbac, but am a little concerned about how my spd will set in.

This pregnancy has been relatively spd free (now 36 weeks). Only a couple of incidences after pushing myself too hard (lifting up toddler and walking) where it has affected me badly. But those incidents have me a little worried, as the level of pain was immense, and imagining what contractions would feel like on top of that make me wonder how i would react in labour. I don't know whether contractions would set off my spd - or since i've, thankfully, got off lightly this time round, i don't need to worry about it.

I'm very keen to go down the hypnotherapy possibly gas and air route to keep my vbac as intervention free as possible.

I didn't experience contractions last pregnancy due to elcs - so have no idea what i'm in for.

I guess i'd like to know your experience with spd and labour.

Many tia.

I had spd when pregnant with DD and although I wasn't on crutches and could still manage the stairs, the pain was enough to make walking, turning over in bed etc very painful at times. I made sure the spd was noted in my birth plan and specified that certain positions would be extremely painful to me. I had a home water birth and found during labour the spd was no worse than normal as long as I was careful about what position I was in. I used hypnotherapy, tens and gas & air. The pain was manageable and my birth experience very positive. I'm hoping for something similar this time (currently 39 weeks):)

I actually found that my spd got a bit better as soon as I went into labour.

Thank you both. Your comments have put me at ease. One less thing to worry about!

Just to add to the bandwagon, I had Spd but can honestly say once labour began I didn't give it a second thought. I did end up having to have a low forceps delivery (a basic liftout) and despite this I haven't had any complications and no Spd symtons since the birth.

I did use water and gas and air during the early stages before it got all squiffy. I would recomend this to anyone.
