I have a really achey back and pelvis yesterday and last night got woken up twice by a painful contraction each time, deffo not braxton hicks (which I have been having a lot of too) This is my third baby. Any ideas if this is normal? Didn't happen with my last two..

My DS was born at 34.5 weeks, so it's possible for labour to start so early.
Are they getting any closer together?
If you're worried, check with your doctor.

Call the maternity ward for advice.

I've been having similar for a while (DC2, nearly 37 weeks) midwives say its totally normal and call it "warming up" and that it could go on on and off for ages and just to be aware of any change in strength and frequency and obviously look out for them becoming regular. Apparently it is common for second and subsequent labours to follow this pattern. Obviously, as everyone else says, if you worried call.

Thanks, I did call and they said just to keep an eye on it which is what I thought they'd prob say Smile

I have had painful regular braxton hicks since week 30. At week 35 they became very intense and now I have to take pain killers in order to sleep. Its not labour though so perhaps yours is not either?
