Muslins
Pillow (I would definitely recommend taking your own pillow so you have a familiar smell around you)
Orange squash/ribena

Lip balm / hand cream - they'll have the heating on full whack.

bubbahubba · 26/10/2010 22:34

don't bother with the breast pads. you won't need them.

onimolap · 26/10/2010 22:55

Flip flops or crocs (unless your slippers are waterproof!), wipes (for baby or for anything that looks unclean in the room/bathrooms). Disposable breastpads - you won't want to be washing them whilst you're in), camera and spare, list of phone numbers, favourite snacks/sweeties. Loads of comfy knickers and more maternity pads. Something to do (books/mags/puzzles/games console) in case it takes forever for the induction to get you going. Good luck!

Why won't she need breast pads bubbahubba? If anything, I;d say bring more than 10 (and more than 10 pads too) as it's really annoying if you run out.

Some women don't leak until milk comes in. Personally I'm leaking already at 33 weeks. Hmm

How about... Sleep bra? Mini changing mat? Socks? Drinking straws?

porcamiseria · 27/10/2010 13:47

add

nipple cream, lansinoh

some nice snacks, as you might be very hungry after birth

ear plugs, HUGE HELP! blocks out the noise of other babies

some anti bac wipes for the shared bathroom, even when clean ladies can leave blood after them

and you will need more than ten pads I suspect!!! ditto nappies as they can poo alot

Thanks for this, I'm due with DC2 in November too and don't seem to remember using anything much from my bag during labour last time and then not seeming to have enough clothes for DS once he arrived!

How about card/gift for midwives - I remember wishing I had organised this in advance last time.

familyfun · 29/10/2010 20:17

oh yes, i gave them a tin of heroes last time, good reminder.
yes dd was a sicky baby and i had to get dp to bring extra sleepsuits the 2nd day.
ive bought a fluffy snow suit today Smile
