Second baby, first labour - advice anyone?

DD was elcs due to undiagnosed breech positioning, and I was pushed into a had her by elcs (without any labouring). I'm now 35 weeks and headed for a vbac but am starting to get nervous about the whole labour thing, particularly as I have no idea how it starts, what a contraction is like (although have had masses of braxton-hicks with this one) etc etc etc. We are an hour or so from the hospital so no homebirth here (boo hiss).

Any advice, reassurance, stories from ladies in/who've been through the same situation welcome please!

It's just interesting to see if anyone has any suggestions re for example head engaging - does it happen as it would in a first pregnancy, or does it wait until later as with a subsequent one? And is labour likely to be quicker - I believe subsequent labours often can be - or is it just as it would be for a first time? Have read conflicting things about some of this stuff, and would love to get some suggestions / answers!

3 DCs here, all spontaneous vaginal deliveries. With regards to a contraction - you'll know when you are having one! If you are not sure its either really early on or a BH Wink Mine were all low down in the pubic area and felt like strong period pains but I know other people have felt them in their back, thighs, hips etc. I had no warning signs of impending labour just contractions starting but you may get a show befiore hand. Labours did get quicker and easier - DD1 - 28hrs, DS 2.5hrs and DD2 1.5hrs with the second stage also getting shorter each time - 50mins, 10mins then 30secs Shock

Oh and head only engaged with all 3 during labour.

same here - first birth experience as previously had twins at 35 weeks by ELCS. I too wonder, and presume, that this will be like a first pregnancy, as we have never laboured before.
