a school mum friend ahs had her baby 8 weeks early. is it appropriate to give them a card or present now or wait til the baby gets home, which could be 6 weeks away.

I'd send a "thinking of you" card or similar, wishing them all the best, letting them know you are always around for a chat etc.

Hope everything goes well for your friend Smile

Noo, i would get her a card and present now. Shes still had her baby, and at 32 weeks all should hopefully be ok. Why wait?

i just thought with all the tooing and froing to hospital, and not actually having him home, they might not want presents yet.

My niece had a tiny early baby, and, after much consideration, I bought a couple of very very tiny outfits. She told me later that she found them very encouraging - she felt it was a vote of confidence in her baby hanging in there - which he did!

DD was 5lb 14oz, so bigger, and we used a lot of the Asda tiny baby stuff for her. BTW I can be a clothing snob, but the baby grows were actually much nicer than I was expecting and they had quite a selection.

At the other end of the spectrum something beautiful from baby monsoon, in a kind of the baby will grow into this? Buying newborn size might be useful for the baby to grow into.

Hope this helps

Katy

Tesco has some nice tiny baby stuff as well. Nicer than Mothercare.
