Am only 40+1 but already highly fed up with the fact that there's no baby yet. Had some strong BH's but nothing major, no show, and LO was only partially engaged at check on Monday.

Harrumph. Am highly fed up, bored of being at home, too lazy knackered to want to go out anywhere plus have to wait in for stinking H&M delivery that has been expected for 4 days.

People keep ringing/texting/FBing to ask if any news, and I just ranted down the phone at DH who did something similar.. surely he should know better!!!

I am starting to think this has all been an elaborate wind-up and I'm not actually pregnant, it's just a particularly bad case of wind.

Come and join in my misery!

I'm 40+10.

Totally fed up.

WorrisomeHeart · 13/10/2010 16:21

Oh blimey zim, thats horrible, poor you. Any plans for induction etc?

OP posts:
InvaderZim · 13/10/2010 16:30

Yes, pessary on Saturday if needed (otherwise a sweep? unsure...), full induction on Sunday (which is the first day of week 43 for me).

I am all for letting a baby cook for as long as it needs, but my mental state is going a bit. :)

I was totally unfavourable at yesterday's sweep, but I know things can turn around quite quickly...

LellieT · 13/10/2010 17:31

I could've written this original post myself, I can't describe how annoyed and fed up I am.

I'm only 40+2 so no great shakes really but everyone and everything's annoying me. Mum's travelled 400miles to help out - she's has been here for a week; I'm going demented. The MIL is annoying me and I haven't even spoken to her today.

I KNOW I should be out pacing the streets and bouncing on the birth ball but really, really can't be arsed getting changed out of PJs.

Had sweep yesterday, another one booked for next week and induction booked for soon after that but I will end up in loony bin if I have to wait that long.

So glad I'm not alone in this rage and frustration Wink

Justanormalmum · 13/10/2010 19:58

I am 40 + 3 and so over being preggers now. Really grumpy from sciatica pain and have even cried today. Pathetic I know. I had acupuncture this avo and have just ordered a curry.

To top it all off it's my DS b day on Sat - I have a horrid feeling little one will arrive then in the middle of his party.

WorrisomeHeart · 13/10/2010 21:19

Oh very glad to be sharing the pain! Grin

And very sick of people telling me to 'enjoy this last taste of freedom, use the time to sleep / do all those lovely things you want to'. Yeah, that's not actually going to work because in case you've not noticed, I am currently the size of a small whale and therefore cannot sleep. Plus no way am I tackling public transport to go anywhere, so that's shopping, movies etc out.

zim and lellie I have a sweep booked for Sunday - how did you find yours, was it uncomfortable?

justanormalmum keep us posted on whether the acupuncture works - might have to get DH to start working the pin cushion..

OP posts:
InvaderZim · 13/10/2010 21:54

My sweep was incredibly painful, but my midwife manually moved my cervix from posterior to anterior. OW. (I didn't actually get swept though, since there was no dilation.)

LellieT · 14/10/2010 16:53

Worrisome - My sweep was ok. It's not pleasant but mine wasn't painful - uncomfortable is how I'd heard it described and I'd agree with that. Lasted no more than 90 seconds, if that. It certainly wasn't anywhere near as gruesome as I thought it was going to be.

Some women compare it to a smear test but to be honest I though it was 'nicer' than that (if nicer is right word!). There was no medical instruments/implements used for a start!

Justanormalmum · 14/10/2010 19:44

Well, had acupuncture yesterday at 4.30pm and I am still very much pregnant. Seeing midwife tomorrow morning and am booked in for another session with the needles afterwards but thinking of cancelling as don't think it works and also could do with not spending another £40.

I am bored too of everyone telling me to enjoy these last days. I know they're right and that 2 kiddies will be really hard work but that doesn't make the waiting any more bearable. Grrrr...

Hope everyone else is bearing up.

WorrisomeHeart · 14/10/2010 20:38

Eeek zim that sounds yuck!

Sorry to see everyone else is still on this side of the great event - this is one of thos threads you want to go suddenly quiet as everyone pops! Grin

LO is going bonkers tonight, wiggling all over the place. I bet he's disengaging... Hmm

Hope the m/w has good news for you tomorrow justanormalmum

I'm booked for induction on Saturday! I am relieved in a very odd way. :)

Justanormalmum · 15/10/2010 20:21

Any more news anyone? I saw my midwife today and she's going to come to my house on Sunday and give me a sweep. Hope it hurries baby up...

loveydovey · 16/10/2010 00:34

WorrisomeHeart · 16/10/2010 11:53

No news from me Sad Have the sweep appt tomorrow so hopefully the m/w will say 'wow, you're 3 cms dilated and this baby will be here in the next hour' Grin. Will be v disappointed if she can't do the sweep.

Good luck worrisome! Hope your sweep goes well. I am hoping they'll say the same to me.

Hope everyone else is okay. x

WorrisomeHeart · 17/10/2010 13:03

Well, not great news at the sweep - cervix is fully closed and long. She manipulated it forward and has booked me in for another on Wed and then induction on Sunday if nothing happens. Am feeling very Sad about the whole thing, so am going to wallow with chocolate this afternoon!

justanormalmum hope you had better news!

OP posts:
Justanormalmum · 17/10/2010 19:52

Oh bugger - similar tale here Worrisome.

Cervix posterior so she couldn't even get to it. Booked in for induction on Sunday. Bloody pissed off. Want to do this for myself. I have eaten my own weight in junk food this avo too.

Come on babies!!

WorrisomeHeart · 17/10/2010 20:11

Oh no, so sorry to hear that justanormalmum. I know what you mean about wanting to do it yourself - especially as this is my first, I wanted to go into spontaneous labour. Am now freaking myself out reading induction threads and worrying about ARM and the drip. Gah, not happy.

Are they going to retry the sweep for you?

OP posts:
Justanormalmum · 17/10/2010 21:40

No - midwife looked pretty glum when I asked about next steps. She doesn't seem to think this baby is going to come out.

I too am freaking about synt and epidurals. I really want to avoid a repeat of last time. I did read one good thread on inductions which I am going to re-read!

A friend did say to look on the bright side - that the baby is clearly laid back and will be chilled out. Hmmm... I hope she's right!

lallyp · 18/10/2010 03:03

Hi all
I am delighted to have found you. I 40+12 days today and starting to stress out. I feel great so thats not the bother. Its the system that won't let me go beyond 14 days overdue with out interfering. I'm not a bloomin' robot. Nor is my baby. I was 10 days 'late' with DS1. I was having a homebirth and when i went to the hospital for a check-up at 9days over I knew the second i walked in the door that they had no intention of my leaving without induction. I had a scan and a heart rate check and was very dismissively told to get my bag from the car, they were going to induce me. I called my homebirth midwife with the figures (they said my waters were low but i had already had a show so the baby was on route and the midwives checked with their doctor and he said that the water levels were fine) and the doctor and midwives agreed to let me birth at home if i wanted to so I said thanks but no thanks for the offer of an induction. That was when they got really nasty and threatening me with all the horrors under the sun so I said goodbye, went home and had my baby the next morning.

at the moment I am booked in to the most amazing birth centre and after 6am on the 20th I can no longer go there and have to go to a big hospital and I am feeling really sad.

I have researched induction and you are up to 45% more likely to have a c-section as its such a hideous unnatural process.

At least its not a friday. your chances of induction/interference and c-section are dramatically increased on a friday as most doctors don't want to be disturbed over the weekend or have their round of golf interrupted so hurry things along artificially.

Sorry for the rant, am feeling really stressed out. I think i will go and scream in to a pillow and then make lunch for ds1 followed by
a curry, a g'n't, some pressure points pressed, lots of pineapple and nipple tweaking followed but great sex.

x

Justanormalmum · 18/10/2010 10:23

lallyp - I hear your pain! I trained to be a midwife for a year many moons ago and as I worked prem nights I saw the end results of inductions - basically lived in scrubs and assisted C-sections. If the women were lucky they'd have a forceps.

I think having seen too many of these kind of things I am now terrified, which is probably stalling my labour further. I keep meaning to book a massage to relax myself. Need to sort it out NOW!

Good luck and let us know how you go. x
