Is this normal after emergency section?

My little boy was born on Sunday just under 4 weeks early. Arrived at hospital fully dilated and ready to push, after 3 hours of pushing there was no sign of head, after many internal checks, no one was certain of position of the head. So Consultant on call was sent for and confirmed brow presentation, and was rushed to theatre, given spinal. Sorry this is long. As they sliced it became clear spinal hadn't worked, and I got a bit scared to say the least, didn't expect to feel the slice, so was quickly given general.

My worry is apart from feeling a bit sore, I feel mentally and physically better than I have done for a very long time.
Is this normal after an emergency section, think I was expecting to feel a bit more down iykwim.

Why worry if you feel so much better than expected?

You've just had a wonderful baby and your body is saying 'WE DID IT! I LOVE YOU'

Do not over do any thing lifting wise for as long as you want and take your time with gentle exercises when you stop taking painkillers.
Congrats!

Think I was expecting worse, as had normal vaginal delivery with DD and got PND.

Thank you don't know why I am so worried, just feel fitter than I have done in years Confused

It's hormonesGrin. And the fact your baby is sleeping when they told you it wouldn't.

And you're in love in a way you never believed was possible before.

Take WowOoo's advice though. It's easy to think you're body's recovered when you feel good and the painkillers are working.

Congratulations too btw

That explains it then Nunnie, bless you!

But, you're not going to do the next available half marathon or anything so just try to keep your mind as empty as possible......Easier said then done,no?Smile

Take it easy. I found I felt great initially - possibly due to shock/ sheer relief that I live in an age where we both survived - but ended up dwelling on the lead up to my slightly traumatic c-section more as time went on. I think that's a normal reaction too. So be kind to yourself and eat much cake. That definitely helps.
