Do you still bleed down there with a c-section?

I feel silly for asking this, but I really don't know.

With DS1 I laboured for days (4!), pushed for a couple of hours, forceps, the lot, so even though I ended up with a EMCS, I tore quite badly. So unsuprisingly I bled quite a lot afterwards.

Time I will be having a planned c-section. Do I still need to get the huge pads and disposable knickers, or will I not bleed at all this time? Is post birth bleeding exclusive to vaginal births or is it just a normal part of the process however the baby comes out?

Thanks in advance!

BagofHolly, I'd be saying the same about NCT's crap preparation for CS, except that in my group there was a former gynae scrub nurse who'd also had an EMCS herself, and she led the discussion, told us everything to expect. I was so grateful she'd been there and I'd learned so much about it, I think it would have been a lot scarier otherwise.

Alpine and Pfft, I am with you on the vomit/pee combo. DH got used to shepherding me into the shower after I'd peed myself and puked in my hair.

Remind me why I'm considering doing this again????
