My waters broke at 7am this morning and absolutely nothing else has happened so far. I've been bouncing on my ball and walking up the stairs sideways and we've just been for a walk but no change. I even tried a bit of nipple tweaking.

So, instead of my hoped for homebirth I'm facing an induction tomorrow morning. I've never been totally against going into hospital, but all I've ever heard are induction horror stories. Do induced births always end up with interventions or once contractions kick in can you have a perfectly straightforward birth?

what hospital are you booked into? you can have at least 96 hours if needs be and totally your choice. you will not start contracting if you go to the hospital and they will definitely have to put the drip up.

why not try a bit of clary sage in an oil burner or on a tissue?

Hi! I had both ds2 and ds3 after being induced - and both were normal, straightforward and quick births. No interventions (or pain relief) was used.

The night is still long, so hopefully contractions will start before then and you can still have your homebirth!

good luck!

I had dd last week and ds 3 years ago both induced labours, both normal deliveries, no forceps or anything. Ds born 6 hours after going on dri, dd born 9 hours after.

I to had heard nothing but horror stories about being induced - I do wonder why fellow women tell each other such things!

I was overdue and terrified of being induced. I tried everything to bring it on and had 3 sweeps, red hot curry etc - nothing worked, so off I went to be induced.

I had the tablet which is given by supository (it's all a bit hazy even though it wasn't long ago) and the nursing team were v kind and understanding.

I had my waters broken for me, and it took a couple of goes with a special knitting like needle thing and it DID NOT hurt at all - I could feel it, but no pain.

I had heard that sintosin, the drug they use to induce can make contractions more intense and faster, and as it was my first I had nothing to compare it to. I will be honest and say they were uncomfortable, but not enough to make me scream blue murder! I found it easier to rock about - even though they tried to make me lye down - that was uncomfortable - do whatever you want to be in comfort and stuff what anybody else says.

I did concede at 8cm dilated cos I can't see the point in being in pain, and I had some pethadine. 10 mins after that I demanded an epidural - neither hurt by the way.

I had no intervention and even though I was on drugs, I could still feel the tightening of the contractions, so knew when to push. All in all it took 6 hours from start of labour to baby popping out, i had a few stitches (not that I cared) and I actually really enjoyed it all! I was relaxed and happy and fully with it.

Please don't worry, everything will be ok and just cos you are induced doesn't mean it will be an awful experience.

Good luck;) x
