Hello - can anyone point me in the direction of some statistics on failed inductions i.e. a % of how many inductions fail and lead to an emergency c-section?

Many thanks!

RCOG website may have the information
the guidelines are definetely there for what should happen during induction etc
have a route around the website or call them! HTH

Thanks for that - I've just had a look and it seems to point me to the NICE guidelines which I've got already, although its difficult to pinpoint an actual %!

Hi, I've no idea how accurate this info is or if it is any use, but my consultant told me that around 25% of inductions on first time mothers end up in a c-sec, but that this drops to around 2% for inductions on second/third/fourth time mothers IYSWIM.

UK average - 76.1% of inductions lead successful onset of labour and vaginal birth, of which 22.9% will require forceps/ventouse. Therefore 23.9% of inductions fail and lead to a caesarean birth.

Local units will vary and you can find all the local statistics on Birthchoiceuk.com Just search for the Healthcare commissions survey and select you local trust.
