More unusual ideas to start labour off

OK so I'm desperate, I've tried it all (not the castor oil) I'm 40+12, midwife spoke to my consultant and I'm booked in on Wednesday (40+14) for assessment and induction etc. I really want to avoid this highly medicated/monitored/high tech method of labour (against everything I had aimed for throughout the pregnancy) and it feels inevitable...I don't have the confidence to 'watch and wait' into wk 43, I know it, the risks would haunt me...Even though I think my dates are off (about 4 days behind)

I'm starting to think the only thing left to do is to take the mattress protectors off my brand new bed - that is bound to see my waters break tonight isn't it?

I had a bloody show last night though, but nothing else since then, not a twinge or even a Braxton Hick which I've had for about 3 wks on and off!

If anyone has any encouragement/suggestions do share!

Have you tried acupuncture for induction? It worked for me and also led to a quick labour, might be worth considering. Good luck, and I hope things start soon.

Second the suggestion of acupuncture. Could also try reflexology. Good luck - really hope kiddo gets shifting!

A friend who's a midwife recommended reflexology too, I'm 39 weeks and will try it if I go over.

Another friend tried clary sage essential oil, a few drops in the bath and she went into labour that night.

My aunty was laying a carpet and that started her labour.....(not that I am recommending this..)

Good luck x

Thanks all, I have my 3rd accupuncture session tomorrow, my husband has been taught pituitary and uterous points by my reflexologist friend and I stink of Clary Sage (and it does smell a bit 'farm yard' to me!)

I ate a whole pineapple for breakfast, curry for lunch and its chilli for dinner, I haven't though done any carpet laying it sounds like the next step...

Christmas shopping did it for me !

I was induced and it wasn't as bad as I thought. 2 pessaries and I was away, everything else was natural, didn't even have an internal once I was in labour as it was all going so well. Good luck!
