To wax or not to wax?

I am 36w, 5 days and am getting everything ready for birth! bags packed etc! Can anyone give me advice on waxing the lady garden/fanfando? Should this be done now or is it too painful? have not had one done in 4 months as I can't see my lady garden at all... Have poor Dh doing perineum massages each night... but thought I may want to improve the view with so many strangers staring at it on D DayGrin

I will definitely be having my waxing done but then I am used to being hairless down there after years of brazillian waxes. I genuinely don't think doctors would give a rats arse either way. They have seen it all. I have had mine waxed all through pregnancy and had my last done at 30 weeks. Hurt like hell. Am 33 weeks and will probably book in to get it done around 39 weeks. It certainly does hurt more once pregnant though.

Will also be getting a pedicure. Just to feel nice! Oh and will shave the legs. But then I am very vain about these things!

Personally I'd save the cash.... if you're really worried leg shaving is a useful distraction during early labour.

Ack well whatever makes you all happy I suppose, so long as you're nicely groomed while your crapping on the labour suite floor. Hmm

I have given this a great deal of thought too. I use a bikini trimmer on mine at a 'number one' which is pretty much like having it all off but without the need to wax and without the itch of shaving. I know they dont care and they see alsorts yadda yadda yadda..but fact is I personally feel much cleaner and groomed with it like that and I actually feel having the hair there is more personal..dunno why? With two recent bouts in hospital with premature Labour scares I have realised that I have to keep on top of it and keep it neat now until he is born! Deffo keeping the eyelashes tinted too for when all the mascara is off! lol!

But to get it all off for episiotomy/tear etc then you would have to have a brazilian.
I didnt on DD but would consider it this time as i remember sitting back being stitched and thinking 'gosh it must be hard gfor the doc to see anything'
And yes earlier poster, I am pretty hairy

Wax one week before birth_check
Shaving legs 1 min before vomiting over self and 1 hour before having baby because as 1st time mum was terrified of going into hospital too soon and getting sent home again_check

I had a pedicure and a leg wax, couldn't face a bikini wax so just 'trimmed'! Really wasn't easy! But definitely recommend a bikini wax. I had an EMCS and the itchiness from the dry shave afterwards was horrible. I found it difficult to tell if there was a problem with the caesarian wound or the dry shave!

I probably worry about these things far too much so having a pedicure and leg wax made me more relaxed. Wish I'd done the bikini wax now...
