cheap towels
shower curtain
torch
tena lady type bed protectors
squeezy bottle for water
teeny tiny nappy
teeny tiny clothes
cellular blanket
hot water bottle to wrap them all in
TENS machine

And separately, a box of fancy chocolate biscuits for the midwives.

I should probably have more than one nappy in case we have to grab the bag as we head out the door to the hospital I guess.

I think I'm pretty set for the home birth, having done that before, but not sure about the hospital part, is there anything I'm forgetting?

Thank you muchly, I know this has been done a million times before.

Some comfy jammies in case you do have to go to hospital? =) I'm in the midst of adding things to my homebirth box, I can hardly wait! When are you due?

wem · 22/09/2010 12:51

Hmm, didn't think about clothes for me! Best put some in :)

I'm due 2nd October. My pregnancy has all been much like last time so I'm hoping I'll be able to have a home birth again too, but trying to be prepared in case it goes a different way.

How about you?

Maternity pads, maternity bra, breast pads

lucozade sweets or similar to keep energy levels up

shower stuff for you, flip flops or slippers, dressing gown

feeding pillow?

Mobile with numbers of important people to call, spare change plus emergency cash for taxi/phone card at hospital

camera!!!! (we always forget that bit)

um, cheap sieve for home water/bath labour, ahem

Can you tell I got told off for having too much stuff? Be prepared and all that. Good luck with the homebirth, I tried twice but ended up in hospital both times.

Also, v v important, bottle of bubbly chilling in the fridge.

wem · 22/09/2010 13:03

Oh yes, very important, I'll go do that right away.

All that other stuff though - of course! I used all of those things but because I was at home they were just there. Think I might have to separate into home birth bag and hospital bag, not sure it's all going to fit into one!

apart from the sieve, never really fancied a water birth for some reason.

Jealous! Grin I'm due 9th November, so still awhile to go for me. I never fancied a waterbirth either, but had three previous easy quick and complication-free hospital births, so very much looking forward to having this baby at home. I was thinking maybe I ought to put together a separate hospital bag too, but wondered whether it would mean having twice as much of everything. I kinda figured too that if I transfer in emergency I won't care what I have with me (can get DH to bring it later anyway) and if it's not an emergency, I'd rather take two minutes to throw the stuff from the box into a bag than be rummaging around in a bag during labour at home...
