I think my waters might be leaking

Either that or I have lost bladder control. I'm 39+1. I went for a wee a while ago and then went back to bed, few minutes later felt like I was leaking and just made it to the toilet. Seemed to be clear fluid, not a huge amount about as much as I would expect from a wee. Changed underwear and put pad in, went back to bed. Same thing happened again about 30 minutes later. I don't think I could have held it in both times.Doesn't seem to smell like wee. I have no contraction or pain and no BH at the moment.
Do you think I have hope that this baby is going to make an appearance in the next couple of days or so? And what happens if your waters break but you don't go into labour? How long have you got until they want to induce?

Sorry lilly I've got no idea, but best of luck with it all and BUMP for anyone else who's still up. x

If you think your waters have broken, phone the hospital (if you're having a hospital birth, of course)
They will probably ask you to go in, so they can check if your waters have actually broken. If labour hasn't started, you should be sent home and they will ask you to go back in 24hrs (unless you go into labour before then)
They might want to induce you after 24 hours because of the increased risk of infection.

HTH and good luck!

Just wanted to wish you luck as I'm up and about. Second the advice about ringing the hosp.

Thank you everyone!
Same thing happened again just now. Can't really be wee anymore. Just rang the birth centre, midwife advised to go back to bed, keep an eye on the fluid and come in in the morning, unless anything exciting happens before then. Ha, like I can sleep now!

Hope everything is going ok

Went to see midwife this morning. Now I have until 8 am tomorrow morning to get this baby going otherwise will have to be induced.
I do have what I guess are very early labour contractions, not regular( every 5-15 minutes, last about 30-40sec) and they feel like unpleasant period type pain.Going out for a walk in a bit, got bored of going up and down the stairs. Anyone has any good ideas to move things along a bit?

Oh good luck, how exciting. Walking is good as is bouncing on ball if you have one... But don't exhaust yourself, if you feel like a nap, have one!
Sending speedy-easy labour vibes...

Thank you, bouncing away as I type. Not so easy it turns out!

Oh - best of luck - look forward to hearing your news!

PomPotty · 22/09/2010 11:11

Hope all is well lillylane

I second bouncing on a birthing ball. Changing bed sheets really speeded thing up for me too! Since you already having mild contractions they probably won't need to induce you. Good luck!

MrsChemist · 22/09/2010 11:38

Good luck! Hope it all goes well Smile

Hello all,
My contractions didn't really get great for almost 30 hours so I ended up with a oxytocin drip and pretty much every other obstetric intervention one can think off. Gave birth (with a little help) to a beautiful girl tuesday evening. She is a boob fiend already! Thank you all for the advice and good luck wishes!
