It's BBC1 NI at 10.35 on Mondays. Can be seen in other BBC regions on SKY ch973.

Hope this might be of interest to anyone with a passing/ vested interest.

Oh I love these sort of programmes! Thanks xx

PlumBumMum · 06/09/2010 12:56

I was wondering would other regions get to see it, looks very good, I know a couple of people who have had their babies there and loved it

GinaTonic · 06/09/2010 13:30

The other regions will get something called, "Gears and Tears" unless they go to Sky Ch973 where the regional variations for BBC1 &2 hang out. Don't know if other systems have this option or not.

I'm particularly pleased as I'll just be able to catch them all before my visit there later this year.

Wonder If it'll be a similar style to "One Born Every Minute" on CH4 earlier this year?

Can you get Sky 973 on freeview does anyone know? Would be really interested in this

woopsidaisy · 06/09/2010 18:19

The Ulster is a great hospital, and my local one! So much better than that horrible Royal Victoria, shudder!

ethelina · 06/09/2010 18:22

DH wants to watch Gears and Tears (its to do with racing which he does) so I am banishing him to the little kitchen telly and watching it on sky in the living room ha ha.

Really looking forward to it.

I loved the RVH, two fantastic births there. Have heard nothing but bad reports on the Ulster, lovely rooms but awful staff!

SparkyMalarky · 06/09/2010 20:54

Channel 863 I think on Virgin. Have set to record - thanks for the tip I love those programmes, although they always make me broody. DH had better watch out!! Grin

PlumBumMum · 06/09/2010 21:12

I had my 3 in RVH and can't say anything bad about it,
aftercare with dc1 & 3 was completely different to dc2(so much better), not sure if that was down to the postnatal ward (there seemed to be abit of a anamosity competition there)

sassie23 · 06/09/2010 21:21

Wont hear a bad word said about the RVH It has great staff, they just need better facilities which hopefully will be coming in the next couple of year

PlumBumMum · 06/09/2010 21:27

sassie I agree, but couldn't believe the difference between 2 post natal wards in the same hospital, both were great, one just had a more comforting atmosphere

Eliza70 · 06/09/2010 21:54

Yes, DS1 had a side room on the ward - midwives very busy and not much time. DS2 had a room in Johnstone House - completely different story - they were running tea-tree baths for you and were soooo nice.

GinaTonic · 06/09/2010 22:07

ethelina, Gears and Tears is shown after Special Deliveries on BBC1 NI if he wants to stay up later to watch it in relative comfort!

Glad this'll be watched by a few more people now. Not sure where /if freeview hides the regional variations. It might be available on BBC iplayer, they sometimes have some regional stuff on there.

Eliza I was on ward D with ds and they brought me muslin soaked in tea tree & witchhazel(best idea ever), and tea tre in the bath, on the other there was no such suggestion

GinaTonic · 06/09/2010 23:28

Does anyone else think yer one at the end could have taken a second to tie her hair back, instead of stopping it dangling in the pool with her surgically gloved hand; which she then used to deliver the baby with.
Or am I just picky?

I was thinking the same GinaGrin

Dotty38 · 07/09/2010 20:52

It's on BBC Iplayer, just watched it.

GinaTonic · 13/09/2010 10:28

Just had a chance to sit down and watch it properly myself. To be fair to the last MW, well done to her for retraining in her 50's, and she did have a good poolside manner. (Feeling bad for hair comments earlier!)

Next one's on tonight ladies!

Ahh Gina you softie

I loved it tonight, thought all the midwives were lovely, would love to see post natal wards to compare to RVH

GinaTonic · 14/09/2010 14:08

Ach,I know. (Makes mental note to put extra hair bobbles in hospital bag.)

I thought it was good this week too. They covered a lot of ground in a short space of time and it seemed to flow better than last week.

4/5 on in a few minutes after the news.

Two long, hard looking back to backs last week.

Last one on tonight @1035 BBCNI. Look in the regional section of your tv menu for it!
