I really hope there is! I am trying to find out a little about your experiences, which hopsital you went to and if you would rate it as a positive experience?

I'm not pregant yet (but would love to be soon) and for lots of reasons, I don't think I could cope with natural birth.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply Smile

Hi Pinkflipflop.I live in Belfast, and like you was DESPERATE for a C.Section.My GP basically told me to grow up,and said even going private for natural delivery was a waste of money. As in everything else...he was right! He recommended the Ulster Hosp Dundonald. And it was fabulous, brilliant midwives, very forward thinking. No stirrups, unwelcome examinations or interventions of any kind. They just let you get on with it.Both my babies were very big,and I had no stitches.I'm a nurse myself, and I can tell you the RVH is horrendous.I know a midwife there who says it is horrific, and she would never have a baby there! Don't be frightened of natural delivery,it is only one day.

There's a 5 part series starting tonight on BBC1 NI, (SKY ch973 for those not living in NI) all about the new maternity wing at the Ulster.

I'be watching avidly in preparation for my own visit there later this year!

I had an el section at the Ulster 7 months ago, but that was because I didn't go into spontaneous labour and had previous em section.

I doubt they'd let you have a section just because you don't fancy childbirth, but if you have a good reason they will probably be supportive. They were very keen for me to have a vbac, but it didn't happen.

pinkflipflop relative had 2 elective sections privately at RVH, (first six years ago, second two).

I had two deliveries at Mater in Belfast, brillant, no stirrups, no interventions, unnecessary examinations either, and my friend had water birth there recently, all went really well.
