Hiya girls, im really sorry if this has been brought up a thousand times already, but im kinda needing some info ASAP! i had my appointment with the consultant last thursday - an appointment which was made when i was 12 weeks pregnant to get my elective c-section date (im now 37 weeks) i waited for over 2 hours only to be told MY consultant was away and his stand in couldnt give me a date, so i would need to wait until next thursday, needless to say i was bloody fed-up! anyway they did say they could 'pencil me in' for the 19th september, but im due on the 22nd of september!!!???? surely its leaving things a little too late right? this is my third baby, and my last delivery was by elective c-section and he was delivered one week before my due date, i really dont feel good about leaving it so late! is this normal??? i went into labour with my first baby before my due date and my sister just gave birth to her little girl at 37 weeks! any ideas as to how i make sure he books me in a little earlier? im not asking much by that am i????? i see him again tommorow morning! not looking forward to it!

I had my 1st section at 38 weeks as that was the norm for that hospital apparently.

2nd section was an emergency one at 34 weeks.

3rd section I had an argument with my consultant who orignally said 37 weeks and then changed her mind and said she had never said it. I cried lots and she said 'oh come in tommorow then if you like' (thinking i would say no thats too short notice) and I said 'great', .
I did have a medical prob that was effecting baby whilst in the womb though.

hi helenemjay
i am very glad you asked the question because i am also due on 22 sept and having an elective c/s so i found this thread very relevant. i will see my consultant on 6 sept to set a date but i have already decided that i am going to ask for 20 sept which is 39+5. i think the later you leave it the better for the baby as the others have said. besides, if you are scheduled for a c/s and go into labour, they are still obliged to give you your c/s arent they? good luck for your appointment tomorrow - hope all goes well and you get a date you like.

WOW!! just got back, had a scan to see how baby was and he/she is fine, and the consultant said straight away, ok we'll book you in for the 12th!! i must have been in there for about 3 minutes! so now i have my date booked in im bloody terrified!!
