Induction using 'balloons'?!

hello, I am 40 + 5 with 2nd dc. DD born by )ecs at 39 weeks (breech, wouldn't turn, 98th percentile head). ECS was a good experience (the aftercare sucked though). Anyway, I am now based on Switzerland and going for a vbac but have been told they can only induce me using inflatable balloons because of the risk of scar rupture. Anyone got any experience (good and bad!) of this procedure, it sounds hideous! also dc is apparently over 4kg (although I know sizing scans are inaccurate) and I am having major wobbles and considering a c-section on the w/e if nothing happens(although having mild contractions so maybe this won't be an issue). Sorry for garbled post, thanks!

hi there

no experience but apparently it's called the Foley Catheter method.

I'm assuming they mean cervical balloons rather than chasing you round in clown suits, hoping to scare you into labour? Wink

No experience but I have heard about it being done very successfully in other countries (and not painful apparently!) If someone wants to get you to 4cm with zero contractions and no pain are you going to say yes? :)

Hopefully you won't need this though.

actually i hate clowns, that may work! thank you, sounds ok actually but will try the old sex/curry/tea/walking combo (not at the same time) tonight

I gave birth to my ds 2 weeksb4 due date after a long shopping trip in DIY store looking forbits and pieces for staircase. Pushing an old fashioned Silvercross buggy helped too I hope :)

So maybe plan that for tomorrow should tonight's exercise fail...
