Hi

Does anyone have any experiences of an elective c section at kingston Hospital and going private?

After a harrowing time from start to finish with my son at st.thomas' I'd like some ideas from mums out there.

I had pre-eclapsia/ he went into distress, etc and I then developed eclapsia afterwards. We ended up staying 7 days with awful post natal care, I developed an infection and my son had to be trans to Kings without me and despite all being fine now no one seemed to listen to me then.

Now I find the same thing is happening I keep being dismissed as though I am just panicking, I just can't take that risk again

Sorry to go on
Any advise would be really appreciated

Thank you thank u

All I know is I had 2 c-sections privately for a whole host of resons and to this day it was the best money we ever spent (I have heard so many horror stories from way over 50% of my friends). To this day I would sell my car to pay for it again. I don't know about the particualr hospital but from a point of staff to patient ratio, choice and consultant intervention, if you can afford it, pay for it. (just my opinion). x

PS I could write an endless list of reasons why too!

I know it makes sense just to have staff available,a consultant and the general standard of care, never mind if there are medical issues or worries.

At Kingston the private sections are done on the normal maternity unit. Your scrub nurse/recovery nurse/postnatal midwives etc etc are NOT private and extra staff are not provided for you in those terms. What you will get is your consultant doing your section and checking on you afterwards, and antenatally of course you will see him/her. After a night on the postnatal ward, if you are suitable you can go to the private wing and stay there. You aren't guaranteed a private room for that night although it usually happens.
