Refusing sweep unless cervix favourable?

40+5 today, appointment with midwife on Monday for a sweep which I have agreed to in principle.

However I only want the sweep done if my cervix is at least vaguely favourable (am thinking that it's pointless trying to force labour if body not ready)..

Have already decided that I will agree to an inducation at +14.

I'm assuming it's totally within my right to say I want her to do the internal exam and only do the sweep if cervix favourable?

Thanks

Of course it is your right.

Unless your cervix is favourable they can't do the sweep anyway though as it relies on your cervix being thinned out and open enough for them to get a finger in and literally 'sweep' round the edge.

Thanks Queen, thought that was the case but must confess to burying my head in the sand a bit about the whole induction process as was certain baby would come on time ((hollow laugh))

Have seen some of your other posts, hope your little one turns up soon Smile

So do I

I am the QueenOfCervicalSweeps this week tbh having had no less than 4! But the first two were unsuccessful as the midwife couldn't actually get a finger in, the third was only just possible, and the fourth was a proper sweep and my god it was uncomfortable! But I have had backache since that one and a show so hopefully it will work yet.

Good luck Smile

Backache sounds promising - fingers crossed for you!

Lots of positive thoughts of baby descending and everything opening up (sounds a little dodgy Grin)
