hi
can someone please talk to me about the risks of both VBAC and CS without Syntometrine. Is one a safer option or both very risky?
thank you

is there really noone here who knows if you can have a CS without Syntometrine?
I was sure I'd get some answers here.

Some medical info here: www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2393/10/23

It would actually seem that intravenous oxytocin is recommended by NICE for a CS, not Syntometrine.

Is it the Syntometrine that you want to avoid, or 3rd stage drugs - and if so, why do you want to avoid these if you have a CS anyway?

I had a CS and had a serious allergy to 3rd stage drugs (they said Syntometrine) and needed resuscitation

I also bled heavily and needed multiple blood transfusions and weeks of iron tablets

am wondering if there is a safe way to give birth without these drugs or if I should never have any more to say staff for the DC I have already

well I THINK they said Syntometrine, it was the 3rd stage drug that did it anyway

Sounds like it would be a good idea to contact the place you gave birth to ask for a midwife to review your birth notes with you so that you can be sure about what the problem was, and then she could advise on what the options are for any future childbirth. I reviewed my notes through a birth reflections service - am guessing this sort of thing is available nationwide?

yes of course I plan to do that but wanted to go armed with some sensible solid questions about future births. Guess my title wasn't cryptic enough or something!
