Hi all

I hope this isn't too much info... I had my 2nd DS 3 weeks ago and he's lovely. All going well.

However, I'm still bleeding. Its been a bit on an off but more on. It still looks fairly fresh and it seems to be going on a long time. I had an easy delivery and no tiring. I'm not "taking it easy" pretty much an impossiblity with a toddler as well as a new born, but I'm not noticing any corrolation between bleeding and level of activity. Have noticed I'm bleeding at night for instance while I'm asleep....

I'm not breastfeeding, but did for the first week or so... not sure what to think. Does this all sound normal?

thanks all,
SP

I think bleeding for at least 6 weeks is pretty normal. have you mentioned it to your HV or GP?

Hi Sally

I bled for 8 weeks I think and that was normal (if a bit annoying!)

Hi! I bled for 7 weeks with DD and 6 weeks with DS. With DD was very heavy for about 4 of those weeks and with DS a bit less, but was told both times that this was fine. It does start to get annoying, though!!

Congratulations on your DS!!

I bled for 6 weeks too, very annoying. Might be worth asking your HV if you're worried though?

Are you still getting cramps? My MWs weren't worried that I was still getting intermittently red bleeding at 4 weeks, but they were worried that I was still cramping. Saw GP and got ABs as a precaution while my body got round to passing the last fragment of membrane/placenta - once that clot had gone everything settled down quite fast.

If its just bleeding don't worry. If you're getting cramps and/or it smells bad and/or you develop a temperature then worth a trip to the Dr.
