I'm sure these questions have been asked a 100 times before so sorry if I'm repeating.

Have a couple of requests I would like to include in my birth plan but not sure if they are reasonable or could be phrased better.

Background - first birth, simple pregnancy, due to birth in MLU.

  • Please keep us informed at all time, tell us who you are and why you're here.

  • I would like peace and quiet with only necessary people in the room.

  • I want to avoid being restricted to one position.

  • I would like to avoid having my waters broken unless really necessary.

  • Please keep internal exams to a minimum.

  • If serious complications arise I would rather go straight to c section then continue with a long drawn out vaginal birth (not sure how to phrase this one)

The other points are all pretty standard.

Any thoughts please??

I think you need to work out what you would consider serious complications. For example, a back-to-back baby could mean you are likely to have a long labour, but this isn't a serious complication medically. If you mean you don't want forceps or ventouse tried, you need to say exactly that, but if the situation arises you will almost ceryainly be asked anyway, because a C-section isn't always possible (e.g. if the baby has descended too far) and carries additional risks.
