Full-term birth after prem 1st birth - faster or slower?

My ds was born at 31+4 weeks. My waters broke at 1am, I started contractions about 2.30, taken to delivery suite at 3.30 at 3cms dilated and he was born at 7am, so six hours total. I'm expecting my second in October and if I make it anywhere near full term this time I'm just wondering whether it will be quick again (quicker?) or slower with a bigger baby. I'm interested in hearing other people's experiences if you've had a prem then a full term, particularly if your dc was as premature as mine. I know prem births are supposed to be a lot faster than term ones.

I think it depends on why your ds was prem. One reason can be short cervix - if your cervix is on the short side then the first stage of labour is likely to be fairly short.

I would check out the pregnancy board here as there are a lot of ladies who have had both term and prem babies.

My dd1 was born at 27+5 after a largely silent labour (backache like on and off for 2 days but no strong contractions) but by emcs as she was breech. DD2 at 38 weeks after a more normal labour of 7 hours in total but again emcs as 2 hours in second stage with brow presentation.
