Can I plan for a waterbirth with a high BMI? Or is there just no way!

Of course! just be warned you might meet with some resistance if you are going the NHS route!

I've got a high BMI (about 40 I think before pregnancy), going for a home waterbirth and no-one's even mentioned it as a problem.

In fact the only thing that raised eyebrows was not wanting syntocin to deliver the placenta unless there was a problem!

Absolutely, I'd go for it. Is your pre-pregnancy BMI over 35? Under 35 it usually doesn't even count as "high" for pregnancy despite being in the "obese" category.
