I have so far resisted the nags from DS 9 and DD 12. Screens are used for homework and watching movies etc. Plus no fully-fledged smart phones as yet and limited screen time. They've given up asking for now. They are happy, social into making music (both play instruments), knitting, reading, baking, building things constantly etc. We just want them to spend most of their time doing physical real things with their hands if that makes sense.

Anyone else holding out? Totally understand the for/against/in-between sides to this no judgement here at all -- not interested in that. I am only looking to connect with other families who are steering their kids away from gaming as we don't know any other families who do apart from another family member.

Maybe we'll crack at some point but so far they are digitally literate, so no worries there at all. We have many reasons for resisting gaming and don't want to get pulled into polarised debate here there is no right/wrong - mainly just want to hear from families who have chosen to avoid these too and the benefits if any they might have felt it brought with it for them.

I really didn't know what category to post this in!

Mine are young adults now (early 20s) so possibly slightly less pressure when they were that age, but we never had one. Still haven't. DS has a decent grad job whilst living back at home so now has the money to buy his own but hasn't yet.

I'm not sure if times were worse 10 years ago to be honest as very few parents seemed to be concerned about screen time at the levels that they appear to be now.
