Hi all, new to this but very desperate. Been through alot with my once 11 year old daughter. Rencently though, turning 12, would like to be the opposite sex she was born. I struggling with my child being on the spectrum of autism and gender dysphoria, wondering if anyone can offer any advice etc. I support the wishes needed but struggling on the autism side as time is not considered. Who else can i approach, there seems to be no hp for those under 13

Don't affirm the gender confusion. She'll end up with mental health problems. Physical problems too if she takes a medicalised route later on.

I agree with the advice not to affirm. That can set a child down the path of causing irreversible damage to their body.
The Bayswater support group is for parents who are going through this.

Why does she want to be the opposite sex? I’d suggest counselling to help her unpick her thoughts, strong female role models (climbing or martial arts with a female instructor), educating yourself and finding out about the statistics (percentage of ASD people who are trans) and read around the reasons behind this.
