It really gets my goat when parents with a DC in mainstream are dead set on specialist as the be all and end all and the Holy Grail and "if you try hard you will get the LEA to pay for independent specialist and then it will all be sunshine and roses".
As well as the scary schools and the safeguarding incidents schools (if they'd filmed this other school I'm sure someone would have been convicted), we saw another one with "gender neutral" toilets which said "oh well if the girls say they are on their periods they can use the staff loos" because OF COURSE an anxious girl who has ASD and her period is BOUND to be happy telling you she's having her period and NO BOY EVER has abused a girl in a mixed sex toilet.

LAs are not the heroes either.

We are all aware of the funding issues, but would have to point out that LA s are charged with ensuring that these glossy schools are what they say they are. Due diligence?

When issues are raised what are the LAs doing? Do they investigate in their MASH hubs or do they sweep concerns under the carpet. Perhaps allowing some schools to investigate themselves.

I wouldn’t entirely blame LAs - Ofsted, SS & CCQ are all complicit.

But please don’t blame parents for wanting the best for their children.

I am not blaming parents, I blame the greedy ‘businessmen’ who set up such schools and treat children as cash cows.

I was just providing a counterpoint to your assertion that Local Authorities are complicit, when in my experience they are not.

I personally blame the govt for not ensuring safeguarding and proper regulation when they spend so much of the budget on SEN care provision.

When issues are raised what are the LAs doing? IME they are still sending children to these schools. I suppose we should be grateful that they are not telling parents "there's nothing wrong, that's the only school we will pay for".

Unfortunately in this case the LA is guilty as sin. They knew all about the owner. As he had previously been sacked from the police for misconduct, they should have banned him from opening any care facility in the first place. Instead of which in February THIS YEAR, that's a year after they knew about the abuse, they gave him pre-approval for change of use on a hotel so his band of thugs could open a second school.

Labour-Tory mafia council.

Wirral is a rotten borough in the true sense of the term. Endless controversies and coverups in every area you can name.

I just wish there were enough decent people left in it to vote for a complete political reset in July but am not hopeful.

Well done Merseyside Police, and thank you Panorama.

These kids and their families deserve to be heavily cash compensated for this.
How dare people fraudulently call themselves educators, take taxpayers money, then abuse children.

I hope the whole lot of them go down.

It’s not on “suspicion” though is it. It’s all there on camera.
