Recommendations for private ASD assessment for girls

For various reasons I won't go into, we need to get an ASD assessment for my daughter as soon as possible.

We luckily have the funds to be able to do this privately, however I am aware there are still waiting lists (albeit shorter) due to the huge increase in demand.

I have made several enquiries online and by phone this week but no-one has got back to me.

Does anyone have any recommendations please? Could do with a holistic approach where they will look at her issues as a whole too, as she has poor mental health at the moment and that needs unraveling too as to what may be caused by what.

We are south midlands but happy to travel. Birmingham, Warwick, Milton Keynes, Oxford, Northampton, Buckingham etc are all within fairly easy reach. Thanks

Beverley Steffert in Cambridge is excellent.

We used The Autism Service in Birmingham.

The Oxford ADHD Centre also diagnoses ASD and is very good. I think their waiting list is also quite long, though (not as long as NHS, of course)

The Lorna Wing Centre is the gold standard.

Oxford ADHD Centre does both autism and ADHD. Very helpful and friendly. We joined the waiting list last March and were seen just before Christmas.

We used The Autism Service in Birmingham.

What did your think of them? They called me back today but their online reviews aren't good!

The Oxford centre looks like a good possibility. I'm not sure their waiting list is open for children, but I'll give them a call on Monday. Thanks

The initial process of getting the assessments done was ok but there was no support after the diagnosis had been made. They gave suggestions of websites that could help but no one to one support.

@handholdin - thanks. Some of the reviews are pretty terrible...I know it's a network of different clinics and therapists but my gut is saying no!

I am in similar situation in East Sussex, close to West Sussex/ Brighton if anyone has any recommendations on this area. How easy is it too get back into NHS for ongoing support/ prescriptions from GP of diagnosed privately? Sorry to muscle in on your thread OP

@vdbfamily no problem at all. It's all such a minefield isn't it!

We used The Autism Service in Birmingham.

What was your experience of them, that’s who were are looking at for our DD (the Shrewsbury/Telford centre)

handholdin · 19/02/2023 20:19

@Sarahmumofthree3 We found the process of the assessment ok and the report was thorough but there was no support after we received the diagnosis. It was basically here's the report and get on your way.

@vdbfamily Lubna Karim in Guildford/Esher/Kingston is probably too far for you?
