Am I entitled to any extra money for my son?

Hello. After a hugely long wait for camhs, my son has had a diagnosis of moderate to Severe OCD. We have been waiting for help since he was 11, he is now 15. He is under a psychiatrist and is on Fluoxetine, however the Dc said he needs ERP/CBT alongside but we are still waiting. Would we be entitled to apply for pip I think its called? So I can fund some private therapy?

Thanks so much in advance

you can do a test which will give you an indication of how many points he would score, there are also forums on the site so someone may be knowledgeable about his conditions and likelihood of success. I read on another thread that many claims that are rejected but are then awarded after appeal.

Under 16 is DLA, OP. It’s a battle and a half but if you think his care needs are higher than most 15 year olds you should apply. They can only say no!

Thank you. I'll look into it.

If you do apply for DLA look at the Cerebra guide when completing the form.

Yes it would be DLA rather than pip and definitely use the cerebra guide to help fill out the forms.
