I am new to this group and really need somewhere to offload. My 14yr old DD has been self harming for a while now but I have never seen or noticed any injuries. Tonight her sleeve came up and her wrists are such a mess from cutting them. I had to stop myself from bursting into tears. I just didn’t know what to say. It breaks my heart that she feel so down she resorts to that. She started counselling 2 weeks ago so we are getting help but I just don’t know as a mum what i am supposed to say or do. I have put antiseptic cream on them and given her a huge hug. What do i do? Can i help her? Do i rekove sharp objects? I am lost 😢😢😢

I’m sorry she’s doing this. You need professional advice. I’m glad she is getting counselling. I think I would remove sharp objects, but I have no knowledge or experience.
Best wishes

So sorry to hear that op, such a stressful time for the whole family.
Great to hear DD is getting counselling, they should come up with an action plan for all of the family. We went through this with DD last year and the plan really helped. I do remember removing any sharp objects and even monitored her in the shower when she was shaving her legs!
I really hope you can all get the help you need Flowers

Sorry your going through this op. It's great your getting help so hopefully that will help. In the meantime I would remove anything sharp and as pp said I'd even monitor her in the shower, maybe just sitting outside and going in every so often to check. Has she told you why she does it? Just show her she's loved and your there to support her no matter what. I really hope she gets the help she needs, big virtual hugs.
