hi all my son has anxiety and depression and is under a psychologist and on antidepressants. he started back at school ok but hasnt been able toget in to do the mock exams which the school say they will use to base his gcses on. he feels like hes failed, and that he will never get back in after easter hols for further tests. im trying to support him. has anyone been in a similar situation? did anything help? and can the school mark him down if hes not well enough to do exams?

its hard to tell - theyve changed him to venlafaxine. hes def better but not sure if thats because the threat of exams is over. wonder what will happen in sept, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it

Having anxiety from a family death or accident is not the same as having extreme anxiety where teens get panic attacks from ptsd etc. It's a physical condition and not much stops it, except rest and a permanently calm, safe, stress free living situation. They cannot help it or stop it and no matter how much they talk about it, sometimes nothing helps. Then they need to be allowed to sit exams in their safe place. It's not their fault they are like thus, it's generally a long term stress from a parent or unsafe country or area they grew up in so I don't feel these types of children shoukd be penalised and fail school because of this.
