CAMHS in Leatherhead/Epsom area

My 14 yr old DD is about to be referred to CAMHS. We live in Leatherhead, has anyone got any experience of the service in this area? You hear so many varying reports about CAMHS just wanted to hear about some first hand experiences.
Thanks.

They can provide support but be sure you confirm everything they say they will do back to them in writing and ask for clarification about everything. They will do everything they can to wriggle out of providing support. Keep up the pressure, via your GP and regular phone calls.

Thank you.
Struggling to get an appointment with a regular GP at the moment.
She was seen by an out of hours person who recommended seeing a GP at our practice who she can build a rapport with in addition to the CAMHS referral. Apparently the two regular GPS in the practice make their own appts and won't see her. They can only offer a locum appt.
Dreadful service.

See the locum for the referral. Can you make non urgent apts in advance with the permanent doctors. Change doctor?

If you look up sabpcamhs you should get a signpost to Beacon, their new layer of bureacracy, but they are helpful.

It's a managed campaign to get help. GP, Beacons advice and following up everything, calling the office weekly etc, getting the GP to write to remind, if you don't hear.

East Surrey CAMHS has historical issues with poor service and attitude unfortunately. Pressure the CCG if they don't provide help, it's the CCG who commission their services.

Just remember and keep repeating "early intervention prevents escalation and is more cost effective in the long run.

Alternatively, you may, if you can, have to bite the bullet and pay.

Also, write to Chris Grayling if you don't get any joy. He's your local MP and its his job to get this stuff sorted out.

And I meant to say, I hope you and your DD are ok. It's very very tough. If she's really bad and threatening stuff like pills take her to A&E. They will admit overnight to facilitate a,CAMHS emergency assessment. Has to be overnight because CAMHS don't assess in A&E and only work 9-5.

Thank you. I'm in the process of changing GPs.
No pills, but one episode of self harming. It's so hard.
School have been brilliant and very supportive.
