Neurofeedback ADHD

Anyone tried Neurofeedback for ADHD. Just looking online at a clinic in Swansea, their testimonials make some large claims.

Just wanted to hear about it from a less biased source.

Thanks Mums

Hi Beammeup11, we didn't go to clinics for treatments, we just bought a headset and video programs to use at home. I've tried those at one of the events in London a year ago, and we just bought it. They are quite easy to use at home, useful and fun. Don't see a reason to pay for appointments.

My daughter has ADHD and I also have it. I didn't really have any problems with managing my own ADHD, but when my own kid started growing up and asking how do you make yourself pay attention to something, how do you calm down when you get angry, how do you make yourself do something you don't want to do, I realized that not everything that worked for me worked for her, and actually, some things did not work for me every time as well. I tried neurofeedback at one of the innovation weeks, and saw that it is one of great ways to see what works for you the best on the screen even before playing the games, and the games are made to train you control the impulses faster. So we bought the technology for both of us and use it for fun and training. We are happy with it and see it works well. My daughter loves playing the games, I like that they are useful, I see her changing, and I see myself changing and coping with the things I had a difficulty with much better. So we would definitely recommend it.

we have a couple of headsets at home, they are not expensive if you compare them with the clinical treatments, and they do basically the same thing - train you control your impulses and emotions. we also agree that they are useful and entertaining indeed.

as for treating ADHD in particular, I think ADHD management takes more than using neurofeedback only. I mean neurofeedback indeed helps at least to see how you can (and you Can!) control attention and relaxation, and it helps to train your brain in general; but there are many other factors that should not be forgotten, like nutrition, sports, healthy lifestyle etc.

Hi everybody!

Beammeup11, hope you've found what you were looking for. Can you please share your feedback if you have used neurofeedback for ADHD? did you go to the clinics?

I am interested in comparing clinical treatment and home based training, wonder if they differ much since I don't have a fortune to spend on sessions.

margoff12 and happymom12, where did you get the headsets from? what was the price? and I also wonder if it's difficult to do trainings at home as I'm not that good with technology, can't even update my laptop by myself lol

Thank you!
