Ds 4.5 had his second hospital appointment with the MH Doctor on Thursday and it has left me at a loss of what to do and say Sad

I only realised towards the end of last year that all of his 'quirks' were actually something other than just that & had always put down his hyperactiveness to his Asthma spray as this is what i were told by his Doctor , anyway he had his first appointment in the new year where the Doctor looked through his history and i told him my fingers and about his quirks which led me to believe he had AS and the Doctor agreed and was then referred to a speach therapist which went well as he has no difficulty with his speach .
So went back on Thursday and was told that at our next appointment in 3 months he will be given his official diagnosis for ADHD,Aspergers & OCD .
I have been told to attend parenting classes and also at the next appointment Ds will be put on medicine to help him sleep .
How could i not of realised he was so bad it must be blatantly obvious to everybody else , I feel like i have let him down with not noticing & on top of this Ds has had to start wearing glasses as he is almost blind in one eye (the thickness of the glass in one lens is like a milk bottle) so this is yet another thing that is wrong with Ds that i didnt notice .
How do i explain to Ds what is wrong and why he keeps having to see so many Doctors, He understands about his Asthma but he has always had that & he doesn't understand why he needs glasses either as because he has never had full Vision in his eye so he can't tell the difference.
So lost and confused and Ds is confused , i just want to make up for not helping him sooner by helping him understand and hopefully this will help me feel less like a complete failure .

Sorry for the length of my ramble

Thanks mfm he goes to a prep nursery 4 days a week as he needed the continuity of a schedule as they stick to a timetable which has helped and luckily he has been accepted for a place at the school so they do know him and hopefully will help more as he gets older.
He wears his glasses while at school which is 8.15-3.45 four days a week so I guess that's better than nothing .
What's CBT ?

Thanks for answering me

Please take advice re glasses! Your optician will know if he should wear them all the time and he needs to see them as positive not something to be endured.
It's really easy to develop coping strategies without realising you are doing it. You have probably been accommodating your ds, doing things differently and not realising. We all have done that to a certain extent and don't beat yourself up about it.

He has to wear his glasses all the time as he has 20% vision in his right eye which is putting a lot of strain on his left eye & he is blind as a bat without them .
I will ask about the CBT .
I was told I have to attend parenting classes , What would I do their ?

Also I couldn't think how to phrase it earlier but Ds does not like to think he is weak and will always plow through whatever he is doing even when having an Asthma attack , which is probably why I have not noticed his sight issues .
I am always reassuring Ds though he has noticed himself that he is different to his friends .

Thanks for calming me down
