Who has got an Eglu and are they worth it?

Just can't decide whether to go for Eglu or cheapish wooden henhouse from Ebay....
Are they worth the money? Are they much easier to clean than wooden ones?
I am thinking they keep their value quite well if I don't end up liking having chickens.

I've just downsized from a Cube (for sale by the way)to an Eglu.

LOVE them both! Couldn't be arsed looking after a wooden job!

Thank you everyone.
OK well I have emailed the person nearish me who is selling an Eglu (seeing as I may have to wait months for one to turn up on Ebay in my area, even if the prices there are a little better).
Have been into the local pet/animal feed shop to talk about getting all the other stuff I will need.
Now I just have to find chickens!

If you go onto the Omlet website and look under breeds they have lots of chickens and breeder details that may be close to you.

I have both an eglu and a cube, and think they're both fab. Just doing introductions at the moment so hopefully will just be using the cube (and many extensions) very soon

Have a cube an eglu and have had wooden housing. Omlet all the way for me

I have a cube, an eglu and wouldn't swap at all.

Lotsofchooks - many thanks for the tip re Omlet website

I'm dying to go out and put the run together now but it's snowing.

BadGardener, have you considered adopting some ex batts? We have 3 and they are the most lovely birds. Its amazing watching them turn from little frightened, scaggy things into normal chickens again. Being hybrids they tend to lay well too.

BadGardener · 09/02/2010 13:18

Eventually I would like to - it sounds like a good thing to do but as I am just a beginner I think I should make things as easy as possible for myself by starting with hens in good condition, and I have heard ex-batts can come with problems.
A friend has some and they are brilliant layers.

Hi Doodlez,
Are you still selling the Eglu cube?
If so, how much?
Thanks
